Comments on: PMC 41: Thomas Lennon http://www.popmyculturepodcast.com/2011/pmc-41-thomas-lennon/ a Podcast Sensation(ish) hosted by Cole Stratton and Vanessa Ragland Thu, 31 May 2012 07:50:53 +0000 hourly 1 https://wordpress.org/?v=6.9.1 By: FilmProspector http://www.popmyculturepodcast.com/2011/pmc-41-thomas-lennon/comment-page-1/#comment-2095 Thu, 31 May 2012 07:50:53 +0000 http://www.popmyculturepodcast.com/?p=1929#comment-2095 This was probably one of my favorite podcasts period, not just from you guys but on the whole of the internet. I’m generally a huge Cole fan so I’m tainted by bias, meaning I hang on his every word and think he is a comedy God. However, when Ragsy and Thomas started improving I totally lost it, it was one of the first times I saw her true talents shining and the balance of comedic genius on the show got balanced a bit.

Throughout the show I could feel Cole sort of stepping back and letting them shine together. It was truly hilarious from start to finish, and I never get tired of either of you, it was hard for me to imagine how cool it must have been to be improving with Mr. Lennon(I call him Mr. because he’s 5 years older than me and I gotta show him a little respect.). I can’t say enough good things about you guys, and I don’t want this to be too sappy, but you guys are definitely the cat’s pajamas and they’re a perfect fit.

And shedding a single tear for poor Nancy in the bath tub. Cole, you stole my T-shirt. On the bright side, we are all set for the next Sadie Hawkins dance!

First person I can remember being jealous of was my younger brother who got an R2D2 and C3P0 for Christmas and I got a STUPID “kissing barbie.” Even as a 7 year old, I knew girl’s toys were a load of BS.

If I’m not mistaken, Home was the only X-Files episode that had a viewer discretion warning before the opening credits. At least, it was the only time I ever saw it. That episode haunted me for a long while. “Mah boys are guud boys…” jesus.

This remains unsubstantiated.

I was about 12 the first time I ever saw Newsies and the moment I saw Christian Bale singing “Santa Fe”, it was true love. And I remember watching the final scene where (spoiler!!!) he comes rushing back, runs through the crowd and kisses her. I HATED her and just knew, if only he could meet me, he would toss her aside like a cheap tramp. 😛

Great show, guys! And I gotta say Vanessa, I might have practically passed out to see text messages from Zac Efron too. I may or may not have squealed a little bit while listening to the podcast. *looks innocent* Keep up the great work, guys!

He was always the first person to get EVERY cool things. He had Pokemon Blue first. He brought the first furby I’ve ever seen to school one day and all the ladies swooned over him. He had a sick razor scooter before anyone I knew too. Jealously! I actually became really great friends with Will in high school and we still talk today but I will always remember being extremely jealous of that kid.

I asked my mom why they’re dressed like that. And so she introduced me to the concept of Halloween/trick-or-treating.

Cut to me: “Well, why can’t I trick-or-treat?”
Mom: “Well, you’re too young. Next year, you can trick-or-treat…”

That night I stayed in in plainsclothes; whenever the doorbell rang and mother grabbed the bowl of tootsies rolls and jellybeans (lame) I would rush behind and peek by her to see who was t-n-t’ing at the door.

Saw 6-7 of my fellow kindergarden classmates in cheap drugstore costumes with their bags full of cooler shit!

JEALOUS: For my sisters, my classmates, for everyone out trick-or-treating that Halloween during the Ford years!

Learned about vindictiveness five years later when I heard about razor blades in apples! (No I didn’t…)

Love the show! 🙂

I agree with VonRieseling…definitely thought Lil’ Gary hopped into the studio for a second there.

And actually this is related to my first. Because of my X-Files/Mulder love, I was *extremely* jealous of Tea Leoni in high school.

But I wasn’t jealous of him because he let me play with them. The first person I was jealous of was a friend of mine who had not one, but TWO My Little Buddys (Red overalls, rainbow shirt, etc.) and he wouldn’t let me play with either of them. I was crushed at the time, and I’m pretty sure I have extensive emotional scarring because of it.

The Beef-a-roni and Nancy stuff just killed me. Thank you!

The first real jealousy I felt was also my first sense of gender discrimination. For a long time, I was the only girl in my family — all of my cousins were boys. They got Nintendos and He-Man and other sweet toys. I got Barbie and My Little Pony. Now, I loved my Barbies and Ponies, but I also would have loved some Super Mario.

Transcendent.

I’m sorry I pissed you off. I have no real ill-feelings toward Miss Hudgens. I was joking (this is a comedy podcast) because of my crush on one Mr. Zac Efron.

love,
the other vanessa

If we got really good grades on our report card, we got to rent Sega Genesis for a week. I’ve grown up just absolutely lacking the coordination to play video games.

(also…this was really funny. thumbs up.)

I had just started opera training, and she was just a few years ahead of me and everyone was talking about how she was the youngest opera singer ever. I wanted to be the youngest opera singer. Not her. Boooooo!!!!
