First team I ever played on would have to be the local hotstove softball team when I was 12. I was usually in the outfield, and I was terrible. The only thing I remember about that summer was when I caught what-would-have-been-a-homerun hit. Greatest (and only) moment in my short lived softball career.

Only sport I ever played was tee-ball when I was 7. I was on the Astros as an outfielder. I’m certain I was terrible. Don’t remember winning anything but we got tokens for the snack bar to get a free drink after the game and everyone on the team would get a “suicide.”

How awesome is Rob Paulsen? I nostalgia’d so hard listening to the voices. Animaniacs and Pinky and the Brain were two of the best (and funniest) cartoons of all time.

My dad was the assistant coach for the Christ the King elementary school football team..I was in 6th grade. I went to the first practice,got the wind knocked out of me…quit. My father took me home and told me it was ok. My uncle, the SMU football star…looked me in the eyes and asked me why I quit..I told him..and he kicked me in the nads….true story….ok not really…but I did quit and became a member of the London Fog mafia…what? I was still stylish even though I was a brooding loner. The Nuns kept me in check…damn them! I still hold a grudge, but therapy is going well thanks for asking.

I never got to play on a sports team, but while playing football with friends I got a concussion and had to spend the night in the hospital, does that count?

The first, last, and only sport I played (besides marching band) was softball on the Pennington Hardware team when I was in second grade. I was in the outfield all the time, but only because I asked if I could keep my friend, who was TERRIBLE at softball, company. We got to pick our numbers, so I picked #7 so I could always remember what age I was when I played softball: seven. =)

my first sport was volley ball when i was six. i had a prob with slowing my arm down so i tended to overshoot the ball and left a few bruises. i was eventually asked to resign after bloodying the coaches nose with an over enthusiastic “hit shot” lol. i play still for fun.

My first sports team was the 1986 New York Mets. It was weird that they let me be a shortstop, considering I wouldn’t be born for another 5 years or so. Rafael Santana and I had a really odd relationship because again, I had yet to be conceived.

Other than that, I did actually play extreme badminton in my highschool’s tournament. My team, the “Shuttlecock-blocks” didn’t get very far, but damn it all if we didn’t have spirit.

PS I went to an art high school. That should explain why we weren’t playing a real sport.

The Maxim Marauders, a street hockey team in 85 in Fitchburg, Mass.

I don’t remember my position, and since we were all like 5 years old. I’m sure it was more “Play wherever the hell you want” anyway.

I never scored, and I was once traded in the middle of a game.

And there’s my hockey career.

The first team I played on was my elementary school tee-ball team. This was completely against my will, as I hated all sports. My parents had not yet realized that I was incredibly gay. I was usually put in far left field, where I was least likely to come in contact with the ball, since everyone on the team knew there was no chance of me catching it.

Near the end of my 2nd year without getting a single hit, my dad finally promised me that he’d buy me whatever I wanted if I would just hit the damn ball. I finally made the hit and got onto second base. And what did request as my reward? The soundtrack to “Annie”.

Best game ever.

Closest thing to a sports team I’ve ever been on- my high school FFA Horse Judging Team. It’s a slightly bizarre competition where contestants judge and score a fake horse show. Then, they defend their placings by shouting a string of goofy phrases, called Reasons, at the real judges. Whoever gets the most points and/or catches the Golden Snitch wins. It’s one of only a handful of team sports where seeing full blown erections is par for the course. (Clearly, I’m a sports nut at the same level as Vanessa. Keep the home runs coming, 49ers!)

Was never on a team, but I did like practicing baseball with my brother and dad. One day we were all playing base ball in gym and I was on second and I caught the ball and threw it to my teacher on third, and he was really surprised that I could throw the ball so well. Mostly because I never once showed any intrest in playing at all, but it was a very gratifying moment for me ^^

My first team was the Purple Panther’s when I was seven years old. I lived in California at the time. Was on another team a year leader and didn’t play after that. Wasn’t very athletic unfortunately~ I played defense!

Never heard of this podcast before. Will have to stop by and check you guys out more. Gotta love Rob!

I’m so sad — I was never on a sports team. I took ballet as a very little girl, and played sports in P.E. but that was it. The first “team” I was a part of was Odyssey of the Mind in 6th grade.

I was tickled when I saw Rob Paulsen was the guest. I had been in a bad mood all day, and listening to the podcast really brightened my day. I about died when Paulsen starting singing “Yakko’s World.” Amazing. Thanks!

My first sports teams were tee ball and soccer, though I don’t remember exactly which came first though I think they were both around first grade. In soccer I was on the Green team, which had conveniently plain green shirts and in tee ball I was on the Mariners. In soccer at that age positions were easy. You have the goalie (none of this no goalie no keeping score crap that they have now) and the mass of kids around the ball. I was in the cluster of kids chaing the ball. In tee ball, I think I was the “pitcher” which just meant that I could field a little bit since no one could hit it very hard.

My first team as a kid? I played in the outfield for my school’s 1st grade T-Ball team. Why? Because I couldn’t field the ball. At all. And out there where few first graders were hitting balls to was probably the best place for someone of my limited talents.

I played right field in a Dixie Youth baseball league (in Tennessee) when I was 9. I think were just in age group teams and didn’t have a individual team name.

My first sports team was at my local Boys and Girls Club Basketball league. I hadn’t realized at that time that I don’t have an athletic bone in my body, so I should just be an actor. I was still delusional and felt like I was a sports star. I was a member of the Celtics, because my “jersey” was green. There isn’t a specific moment in playing basketball that I remember, but there is one thing that makes my basketball skills different from every other kid. I actually created my own underscore to my games. I would literally hum or create music during the games to keep me motivated and playing hard. So I would come up with these epic John Williams type scores to my Boys and Girls Club basketball games. For me, that always made me feel like a better athlete, like the ones in Hoosiers or Mighty Ducks. I’m glad I just accepted my cinephelia instead. 🙂

Never played sports as a kid (I was a nerd)so, the first “team” I was on was the school’s library squad (ok, supernerd!) that was in charge of maintaining and running the library desk. I got to use the bookscanner gun. Does that count? 🙂

(And during downtime, I would browse the Internet and indulge my obsession with Animaniacs and fascination with cartoon voiceovers!)

My first team was my soccer team in 3rd grade. It was really fun, except for one day. All the team members were there waiting for our coach, and everyone was singing “We Didn’t Start the Fire,” but I had never heard that song. The first time I ever felt left out or excluded, as well.

In an interesting twist, my team was named after Raphael (every team in the town league was named after ninja turtles that year).
