The first song I ever called in to request was “Bitch” by Meredith Brooks. I did not even really like the song that much, but I was 10 years old and loved the opportunity to say the word without getting in trouble. I called in like 2-3 times a night just to get away with swearing. To this day, I still giggle when someone mentions the song, because my brain has now been programmed to think they’re saying something naughty.

I don’t think I’d ever called a radio station until I was kind of oldish, when I requested Always Love by Nada Surf. They’re so friggin’ fabulous!

The first song I called a radio station to request was “Wonderwall” by Oasis. Before I bought the CD (it was my first), I would call the local pop station EVERY day after school. I was so obsessed that I would literally run home from the bus and ignore my friends to make that call.

The first song I called a radio station to request? “The Lion Sleeps Tonight” (you know the song…In the jungle, the mighty jungle, the lion sleeps tonight)….sure it was about 1993 and I was calling a Top 40 station to hear it and they laughed at me, but nonetheless that’s the fire song I called in to request
