Later, I decided that I’d actually just fallen asleep with the radio on, and had heard (in some semi-conscious state) about the trade during in the sports update.

p.s. That’s a great picture of you guys with Lake. The two ladies are absolutely stunning.

I was half asleep and stumbling around a bit, but I looked up right as I was about to walk through the doorway to to the kitchen and there was a billowing figure towering over me! I screamed and immediately fell into the fetal position (surprisingly neither fight, nor flight)…

After freaking out for a bit, I dared a peek… And it was the dry cleaning. Not a proud moment.

Purposely taking two spots is so bad at my office building that I stopped hand-writing notes and made these cards. They are 100% bullshit.

I was having a sleepover at a friend’s house who had allegedly had a ghost. We slept out in the living room, and I woke up suddenly in the middle of the night with a chill. I walked into the kitchen to get a glass of water. I had locked the door leading out to the backyard earlier that night, and the door was standing wide open – still locked.

Scared the absolute crap out of me.

That’s right, I said it. Did it just get weird up in here? You bet your ass it did.

It all started when I went to put in my new DVD of Children’s Hospital that I won from the Pop My Culture podcast. What is this show about? Do children run the hospital? That seems like an inefficient model, but times are tough. Thanks a lot Obama!

As I started to watch the show, I saw the reflection of what looked like Rob Corddry from the show behind me! To say it startled me, was putting it mildly. I turned around and he said, “Hey listener you win Lake Bell”. The chills went down my spine as I picked up the DVD and that exact phrase was written on the very copy that I had won from PMC.

Obviously I was disappointed because I had just bought a bell for my lake house. What I really needed was a bell for my apartment; or Apartment Bell. This is when things got really weird.

Suddenly Rob Corddry took off his mask, and it wasn’t him at all. It was Lake Bell, the actress. She was wearing a Rob Corddry Children’s Hospital suit. I thought to myself, that it made sense now. I had won Lake Bell, the actress.

But is it a prize? Lake Bell has been stalking me for years! Leave me alone Lake Bell! Please don’t pick me PMC! I don’t need this kind of stress in my life!

PS I just read this and two things come to mind. I will never get the 8 minutes it took to make up this story back. Numero dos… I need to get a life. Love the podcast Vanessa y Cole!

I had her cremated and I keep her ashes in a vase in my home. About five years ago I had a roommate who asked me what my other cat’s name was. Her question confused me because I only had one cat. She described a small black striped cat who was a bit shy. She would see it circle the legs of a table or chair and then it would be gone. It sounded just like my cat from years ago. I told my kids what the roommate said, and they confessed that they had recently performed a seance hoping to contact the spirit of our dead cat. Since then other friends have said they have seen the cat around our house.

This was super unfortunate for me because my room was right next to the laundry room. Fortunately, I tend to be of the mindset “if I don’t acknowledge them, they won’t acknowledge me”.

I ended up going home sometime in 2012. I arrived the night before they had the unveiling of those 2 big spotlights representing the towers (where I had worked years prior). I went to the light ceremony with my female NY friend whom I drove cross country with. We were leaving the procession and we were at some really closed off blank street down by the holland tunnel when all of a sudden this enveloping smell of jasmine engulfed us. I looked around (it’s 10 @ night) the street is barren. I turn to Lisa, “Do you smell that?” and she was like crying and I am asking her what is the matter and she tells me that the Virgin Mary would anoint people in jasmine when they were wounded. My whole body sort of creeped out. I’m not a holy roller, but this was unspeakably delightful and scary.

In one house we lived in – my favorite house, actually – every time I was in the shower I would hear someone yelling or knocking on the door. It sounded like someone calling my name from downstairs. Or someone knocking a couple times on the door because they needed to use the bathroom or something. I assumed it was my brother or sister needing in the bathroom. I would get out, wrap a towel around myself, and stick my head out the door only to find nobody there. Often times I found I was the only person upstairs at all. It never frightened me though. I was always very open to and interested in paranormal things as a child/teenager.

I am sure I’ve had 1 or 2 of those. I just can’t remember it.

Which is a bummer, as I used to think about falling down the stairs all the time, and when I finally did, I launched from halfway up and landed chin-first on a wooden bench across the foyer. Tons of stitches. Tried really hard after that to never again picture falling off a sidewalk right in front of a moving car…

I was about 7 and it was Easter morning. The Easter bunny brought us both fancy collectible stuffed rabbit toys, with jointed arms and detailed clothing and button eyes. My sister threw a shit fit for whatever reason (she was, and is, a reeeeeal brat) and threw her rabbit on the ground, screaming about how she didn’t like it. My mom picked the rabbit up and said to her “Look! You made him cry!”. Sure enough, there was a blue felt teardrop on his face, just below his eye. My sister immediately stopped crying and looked shocked- she then grabbed my otherwise-identical rabbit and discovered (to her horror) that MINE didn’t have a teardrop. Fearing some kind of stuffed animal assassination plot, she took hers back and apologized to him.
The part she didn’t see is that both rabbits had the teardrop on their cheeks (kinda of a strange detail, but whatever…), and she was so quick to throw a tantrum that she didn’t notice it to begin with. Just before my mom pointed it out to her, she deftly tore the tear off of mine, making it appear that mine was happy and hers was feeling all sad or murdery or whatever.
You can’t explain that with science!

Unless the person I was using the board with, who didn’t watch or care about baseball, had memorized that roster, I don’t have an explanation for that.

More recently one of our stove burners heated up and a canister of sugar caught fire, even though the burner dial was set at off. That one probably has some science-y reason for it.
