And it’s pop culture-related too!
When I was in 4th grade, I saw the movie Titanic. I immediately became obsessed with Rose. I would talk like her, my friends and I would act like her on the playground, I called boys Jack instead of their real name, etc. The one thing I couldn’t replicate was how she went on pointe (on her tip toes) in the after hours dance scene. I would try and try but I couldn’t get my feet to cooperate. So one day I had the brilliant idea that I would jump and land on my toes. So I jumped and was on the tips of my big toes for a microsecond before I heard a big POP and I fell, tumbling, to the ground. My big toe was in so much pain, and I crawled down the stairs, crying, to show my mom what I had done. I had broken my big toe trying to be like Rose.

I got my hands on it and punched a hole in the pad of the tip of my finger. I was also playing with it, so it was really my own fault. So much so that I felt really stupid and stuck my finger in my mouth so no one would know what I had done until I realized it wasn’t going to stop bleeding and I had to go tell someone.

Well it went fine for awhile until the dog took after a cat causing me to go flying off my scooter, and of course this was all after my dad told us that it probably wouldn’t be smart to ride our scooters while taking him for a walk, and of course he watched the entire thing.

I was clearing stuff out of my closet and found these stupid kitten heels that only attach at all by a tiny strap across the toes. Was carrying excess junk out of the closet, clomping down the stairs in those shoes, and launched from the 5th or 6th stair up, landing with my chin on a wooden bench at the bottom, and denting the floor with my knees. Spent several minutes refusing to move my head off the floor because I didn’t want to know the extent of the damage, then my stepmother drove me to the hospital for stitches and we left a giant puddle of blood in the hall for my stepsisters to come home and find.

I realized later that I actually broke the elbow when I noticed the bone sticking out of my skin. So, yeah.

Like one of the spools and 3 sticks made a fine stool. So I made a 3-legged stool and stood on it, and bam, 3 seconds later, on the floor crying.
I am sure I did stupid things earlier, but I can’t recall them.
There was also the time I sprayed my dad’s mace in my throat at age 6-ish, thinking it was breath spray. He was a cop….it was the good stuff.

All that happened was I flipped upside down and landed on my hand. I broke my wrist and my arm. I had to spend six months writing with my wrong hand.

When I was in elementary school my best friend and I were throwing darts at a cans of aerosol cans of bug spray in a closed garage. We did this for about an hour and broke about ten cans.

I made it to about 2am when they started handing out free tequila. I am told I disappeared into the city alone for an hour and came back bleeding profusely down my shin from the club’s rusty spiral staircase. I should have gotten stitched but instead decided to pour peroxide in it for a few days. At its peak, I could almost put my pinky finger up to the nail into it. I now have a horrible (awesome) scar on my leg. These details have all been pieced together by witnesses…

When I was about 7 my older brother and his friends were riding a (pedal) go-kart down our steep gravel driveway, dangerous enough as they’d end up on the road and if a car came up from behind them there’d be no time for it to stop. To avoid that they’d turn right at the bottom of the driveway to go up the neighbour’s drive.

I demanded to have a go, but I’d never driven the go-kart before, let alone down a dangerous hill, and when I reached the bottom managed to turn right too quickly and too early, crashing into the side of the drive, tipping the kart, and my head hit the driveway, dragging my face along the gravel.

Half my face was covered in grazes for the next month.
