The first score I can remember really catching me was the score to the film Crossroads (the one with Ralph Macchio, not Britney Spears). It was all old blues guitar song from the 30’s and 40’s, with a suprise guitar battle between a blues guitar player and Steve Vai from the David Lee Roth band playing metal guitar. I recorded the songs off of the VHS tape on to a cassette and listened to it for YEARS! Gotta get a copy of it now!

First one I remember wanting to sing along with in the theater was SCROOGE, the 1970 musical, though the first one I remember being really taken with was FOR A FEW DOLLARS MORE, when ABC played it in the mid 1970s…I taped it (with an audiocassette) from the television for an hour or so, and got most of the best of the musical queues…when the full score resolves to the chimes in the musical locket, I knew Morricone was a genius.

When I was in 3rd grade it was the year of “Grease” – that’s the first time I even noticed that movies had music going on. I didn’t understand a lot of the lyrics though. “Lousy with virginity” took years to decipher.

Good new game Cole, like it!
The first single song from a movie I was obsessed with was the Jurassic Park theme. My middle school band played it with the band of the other middle school we’d go to high school with, and it was perfect.
For whole movie, 28 Days Later. Great, although a bit nightmare-y if you nap with it on.
