I also loved Jake the Snake and Damian. Also, upon looking further into whether my memory was accurate, I find that I was conflating the Hart Foundation/Bulldog feud, which culminated in their facing off at Wrestlemania III, after the biased referee cost the Bulldogs the title, and a later 2 out of 3 falls match, I think it was the Harts right about the time they turned face and were feuding with Demolition.

The earliest WWF storyline I can recall feeling strongly about was the feud between the Hart Foundation and the British Bulldogs. I remember watching Saturday Night’s Main Event where the main event was a best two out of three falls match for the tag team championship, and being ridiculously angry when the Hart Foundation cheated to win the third fall. I think my dad tried to explain that it was all staged at the time, but I was having none of it…I really was upset about the whole thing.

The embarrassing part is that I thought that Rowdy Roddy Piper was a real Scotsman. He doesn’t even have an accent! What can I say? I was a kid.

My mind was so blown and I felt like such an idiot that I had to pause the podcast for about 10 minutes. At least to make me feel better, I asked two other people in their mid to late 20s who also didn’t know this.
