I am a HUGE fan of the Penguins TV series, and I was super-disappointed that the voices used in the movie weren’t from the show. It’s always such a shame when studios think a big name will draw audiences to an animated film, especially one aimed at children (and those of us who are kids at heart). Kowalski is my favorite penguin, and Jeff Bennett one of my favorite VAs. His talent was sorely missed in that movie. As well as John’s (Rico) and James Stuart’s (Private)!

It’s a shame that talented actors like John are being shafted by celebrities. Kids don’t give a shit if Lindsay Lohan or Grey Delisle (who is awesome by the way) is playing an animated character. As long as the character’s authentic and believable.

Though mom served us Koolaid with only half of the requisite sugar (it was more a function of being poor rather than any health concerns) I jonesed for Orange soda of any brand. “Coke” was synominous with “Soda” so my brother and I would often ask for “Orange Coke.” When my father one day brought home colas instead of orange sodas because we had asked for “coke” I quickly learned the difference. I was probably 5 at the time.

I remember Mondo drinks were pretty cheap for our family at the Sack-N-Save. When I drank them, I used to match my lips to the opening because it was smooth and round. It wasn’t to make out with or anything, oh crap, why did I post that?! I also liked it because it was one of the few drinks I could drink without hands by holding on to it with my teeth and tilting my head back for a swig of that sweet artificial flavoring.

Mtn Dew when I was 4 and have been drinking my whole life and went on a mtn dew craze at the age of 13 which was the turning of my life and becoming a all night warcraft addict and legend of zelda/Final fantasy craze. My favorite flavor was just original but now it has grown to become Mtn Dew Voltage.

One word: SURGE. I blame Miami Subs, as when I worked there, they had it on tap. It was essentially Mountain Dew laced with CRACK. Granted, it helped me keep going during a long low-paying job on my feet as a cashier, but I think it’s also desensitised (sp?) me to caffeine. I’ve been able to drink an ENTIRE COLADA (that’s one of those small styrofoam cups of Cuban coffee that you’re SUPPOSED to divvy out into the little plastic shot cups; I forwent the cups and down all of it in one shot) then go to bed and sack out for 12 hours.

The first sugary drink I ever had was Dr.Pepper. My dad was addicted to the stuff. Actually… I always thought if it wasn’t Dr.Pepper it would have been Beer… that’s how addicted to the stuff he was and he evidently passed it on.

I was obsessed with Pepsi Crystal. Although, my first sugary favorite is definitely Black Cherry Kool Aid. I loved how it made your teeth and lips super red. I’m beginning to see a connection to my love for red wine.. Thank you guys so much for having John DiMaggio on the show! He’s so funny!

The first sugary drink I was into as a kid was this Filipino soda called Royal Orange. It is a orange soda that came in this tall glass bottle and when I would go to the Filipino store with my mom she would buy me a case of it and I would get the craziest sugar high combined with the worst tummy ache…they have discontinued selling this soda in American and I miss it dearly!

I remember really getting into Big Red when my mom moved us from Idaho to Tennessee, it wasn’t a thing up north. I have to say though, I really hate it now; it tastes way too much like red food coloring.

Oh man, I’ve never wanted to win one of the prizes more than this one! I’ve always been crazy into sugary drinks, but the first I was specifically into was those terrible Fruitopia drinks in the early 90s. Apparently I wanted to be “enlightened” or whatever as a child (as per their marketing).

In the UK we didn’t have as many cool ones as you but we have mini bottles of pop called panda pop.
The best one was strawberry jelly and ice cream.
They had many normal ones, cola, lemon n lime, cherryade etc but there was also bubblegum, candy floss and other cool strange full of sugar flavours.
Best thing bout school lunches was you could get them for 25p a bottle.

The first sugary drink I can remember drinking was Slice. Whenever my brother and I stayed with our grandparents, our grandpa Popeye (he was a sailor in WWII) would take us to the corner store in his pick up truck(no seat belts), with his little terrier sitting on his arm as he drove and let us pick out a treat. I always got an orange jawbreaker and a slice, not very age appropriate, I was five, but it was the 80’s. Love you guys and Adventure Time!

There’s this sweet drink called Mogu Mogu with nata de coco and sweetness all over it. Flavors are lychee, strawberry, grape, orange, coconut; among many others. But I love the strawberry most. Reminds me of Princess Bubblegum.

My hometown of Scranton, Pa., offered up a definitely delicious, potentially racist cherry-flavored soda called Cherikee Red from the Crystal Club soda company. It came back a few years ago, and I think I figured out how to make it at home, too.

The first sugary drink I was into was Orbitz soda. I don’t think it was around very long. It was oddly viscous and had little balls of jello floating in it. It came in a bunch of flavors (with different colored balls) none of them remotely natural tasting, but I was instantly hooked.
